The duck is made of natural rubber. Natural rubber is made from the milk of the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) which produces a soft, flexible and waterproof rubber with an easy-to-clean surface. In contrast to petroleum-based plastic bath ducks, rubber ducks are free from phthalates, plasticizers, bisphenols and other toxic substances. The production of a natural rubber duck uses 10 times less energy than a PVC duck - so its ecological footprint is quite small.
